AWF Salutes Its Fundraisers!

The Amy Winehouse Foundation would like to extend its thanks and congratulations to a selection of individuals who have gone above and beyond in order to raise money for the charity.

Laura Butler, who has in the last few months done more than most in the name of the Foundation, deserves special mention for her efforts.

Laura is one of the country’s foremost Amy tribute artists, and ensures that she takes her AWF collection bucket to all of her gigs.

One of her most recent events, staged at The Brickhouse in Brick Lane, London – a street that is something of a spiritual home for the Winehouse family – raised £2737.50 for the Foundation, taking her personal tally to £3802.63 since May.

One of the Winehouse’s first homes upon arriving in the UK from Belarus was in Bacon Street, located just off Brick Lane. It is here that the family were living at the time of the 1901 census.

Southampton-based Marc Blackburn held a special all-night gig for the Foundation, with performances from Hampshire-based musicians leading to a great evening of music.

In total, the event raised £1250, a sum gratefully received by the Foundation.

Another event that deserves mention and praise took place closer to home, with hairdresser Marina Berker turning her Enfield salon into a fundraising hub for a special ‘Day for Amy’, raising over £1000 in the process.

Again, we say thank you to all who have contributed to a great year for the Foundation, and hope that we can count on their continued support – as well as those who plan to help out in the new year.

About the Amy Winehouse Foundation

In Amy’s memory, we work to inspire children and young people to build their self-esteem and resilience, so that they can flourish.

Our work is inspired by Amy’s spirit, her love of children and the challenges that she faced in her own life.

Today, the Amy Winehouse Foundation helps thousands of young people to feel supported and informed so that they are better able to manage their emotional wellbeing and make informed choices around things that can affect their lives.

We’re able to do this because of the support we receive from people like you. Anyone who believes in young people can become a part of our work and Amy’s legacy. By supporting our work, you will help them to transform their lives, flourish and be heard.
